Yin Yoga for Runners and other Athletes

This class is taught by:

Angela Heverling

Angela believes that yoga can improve all aspects of one’s life and should, therefore, be lighthearted, fun, and accessible to all. She began practicing yoga in 2007 to relieve the stress of a new job and become more physically active but found so many more benefits. Angela completed her 200-hour teacher training at Flow Yoga Center in Washington, DC and has completed Yin Yoga Teacher Training with Corina Brenner in Philadelphia. In addition to her yoga practice, Angela is a marathoner and trail runner. She recently completed her first ultra-marathon and credits her yoga practice with helping to keep her strong, flexible, and injury free.

Are you training for a triathlon, marathon, or simply increasing your running or cycling this Fall?

In this workshop, you will learn to complement these activities with the deep stretches in Yin yoga to assist in recovery from joint wear, tight hamstrings, and burned-out quads.

Our connective tissue can shorten and tighten as a result of the repetitive motions in running, cycling, and other exercises. We will practice a sequence specifically designed to work on the connective tissue in the hips, legs, and lower back. Poses will be held for 3-5 minutes with modifications and props provided.

Our Yin practice will be followed by a short restorative practice focused on lower body recovery.

Learn a practice you will want to make a regular part of your training plan. Suitable for beginners.
