Are you new to yoga, or simply looking to gain a deeper understanding of the fundamentals of yoga philosophy and postures? This workshop is limited to only 12 students so that each person can get more individualized attention. Join Abby Dobbs for this 4-part series where we will break down yoga basics!
What will be taught
Each session will begin with a brief discussion of yoga as a practice – covering the basics of the Eight Limbs of Yoga, history, lineage, and the practice of Yoga. That will be followed by a simple, but powerful, yoga practice, in which we will explore the elements of the basic yoga asanas. We will have time to answer any questions and concerns about each posture - including how to modify the postures to suit each individual's body.
What will be leaned
Expect to learn fundamental Standing, Balancing, and Seated Poses, as well as the important actions in traditional Sun Salutations.
You will leave with an understanding of the alignment goals and actions of basic postures, how to use the breath to deepen your experience, and yogic tools to calm & steady the mind. Please bring yourself, a journal and pen, and a willingness to learn!
