Abby Dobbs

Abby was dragged along to her first yoga class at the age of 15 by her mother. Little did she know then, but yoga would change her life completely. Abby completed her first 200-Hour Teacher Training with Ana Forrest in 2008 – with no intention to teach. The Forrest Yoga Foundation Training changed Abby’s life course away from the pursuit of a PhD; she couldn’t leave the connection to spirit and community that yoga awakened within her. Inspired deeply by the practice of yoga, Abby has continued chasing her passion through many additional yoga trainings, including another 200-Hour Training with Natasha Rizopoulos of YogaWorks, and Advanced Teacher Trainings in Rocket Yoga, Forrest Yoga, and Yin Yoga. Abby attended Massage School in 2010 and is a practicing massage therapist and energyworker. She has continued to grow her fascination of the body through multiple bodywork trainings.

In Abby's classes you'll find intelligent sequencing and lots of individual attention and hands-on assists. Abby encourages her students to make deliberate and mindful choices in each moment - to listen & connect to their own inner wisdom through continuous, moment-to-moment self-inquiry. A Teacher's Teacher, Abby wrote, created, and taught her own 200-Hour Teacher Training, and runs Advanced Teacher Trainings in topics like Hands-On Assisting, Functional Anatomy, and Safe Sequencing.

Abby believes that yoga is not only deeply personal practice, but also a community - and that we can help to heal ourselves and others through the practice of yoga. Off the mat, Abby loves to read, cook, and bake, and is mom to three fabulous cats - Kitty Boo, Billy, & Pashmak.
This class is appropriate for all levels of practitioner except the absolute novice.
 
It focuses on creating a safe space for students to explore their individual, unique yoga practice. Through the use of yoga postures (asana), this class is intelligently sequenced to increase flexibility, strength, and functionality in the muscles and joints of any and every body. Each class includes breathing techniques (pranayama) to relax the nervous system and soften core tension, and mindfulness exercises to increase focus, will power, and clarity. 
 
It is not a heated class; the temperature in the studio is maintained at a comfortable level.
