Denese Cavanaugh ERYT500 has studied with master teachers since 1995, and has been teaching yoga since 1997. Denese teaches various yoga workshops in the US and abroad as well as weekly and monthly classes in the Washington, DC and NYC area. Her many teaching styles include Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary Series, Iyengar Alignment inspired, Vinyasa Flow, Power Yoga, Restorative, Prenatal and Kids Yoga. Yoga has helped Denese uncover her most joyful, most authentic version of herself; her non-dogmatic approach inspires others to consciously reveal a new found balance, while having a blast on the mat. Large presentational venues from 500 to 3000 participants come easy for Denese, and she loves sharing with her community. She is humbled and grateful to her yoga teachers for sharing their unbounded insight and generosity, and is honored to also share that generous evolution with others. She currently offers restorative Retreats, Mala Flow 200hr RYT curriculum to teachers here and abroad, such as Milan, Italy and has taught in Goa, India.
Denese Cavanaugh is not only a ERYT500 certified Yoga Teacher, but is also the founder of IPATH yoga. Every one of her yoga classes integrates a purposeful, meditative quality, which allows an experience of connection and mental reflection – all while the body explores expansion and renewal. She feels privileged to be able to empower her students with practices that are educational and engaging, all while being accessible. She has even given numerous private and event yoga sessions with First Lady Michelle Obama. Her passion for mentoring yoga teachers and alignment yoga led her to create IPATH yoga, (Integral Postural Alignment Techniques), allowing her to share her love of yoga with people with failing posture and back pain. Currently, she has expanded her teaching and holds a YACEP® designation (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider), offering her 200hr Yoga Teacher Training curriculum, to yoga schools in Italy. Through integrity-driven classes, Cavanaugh aims to provide students, her community and teachers with the tools they need in order to rejuvenate and heal the body and mind.

IPATH Restorative Yoga
This is just the restorative yoga class you need to release fascia, lengthen muscles and align your body, which will ultimately eliminate pain. IPATH yoga, (Integral Postural Alignment Techniques) typically makes the best use of 5-6 supine poses. This holistic practice begins with the heart opener moving the body slowly, gently, and very mindfully until the first layer of resistance is felt, practicing ahmisa, or non-violence for the body. Myofascial Release (MFR) is extremely helpful in reducing back pain, restoring motion and flexibility of the entire spine by treating the front and back three-dimensionally and the associated pelvis which is considered to be the foundation of the spine. Using yoga blocks and yoga balls, compressions are part of the focus, that will ultimately decompress the spine. Come in with pain, walk away healthier, rejuvenated and pain free!

A vigorous class with a daily theme like hips, backbends, inversions, etc. The class has a workshop focus. Modifications are offered. Students can expect to be physically and mentally challenged. By taking this class students gain a better understanding of how or why one should or shouldn't be doing certain postures.
This is not a hot yoga class. The studio temperature will be adjusted depending on outside weather conditions to suit the comfort level of students and to optimize the benefits of the practice. Usually, the temperature will range between 76 degrees and 80 degrees, with the maximum being the exception rather than the rule.
Relive Back/Body Pain with IPATH Restorative Yoga
As our posture deteriorates, joints become restricted and the difference between tense and weak muscles creates stress. These imbalances, stiffness and loss of motion lead to pain signals throughout the body.

The 2.5 hour workshop will begin with the IPATH method, developed by Denese Cavanaugh, the teacher, and will be complete with a sound bath using an ocean drum, and a crystal bowls to rock your chakras.
