Beginners' Yoga Series Starts October 12

Michael Peterson

Michael first experienced meditation without knowing it while playing the drums as a teenager, completely absorbed in the moment. Years later, while living in New York City, Michael was dragged into his first yoga class against his will. His perspective shifted, though, during this first class and he realized he had found a home. It was the first time he had experienced quiet in the midst of the hectic, whirling, New York City environment. Michael believes that this sense of calm is our natural state and the practices of yoga can and do take us there.
Michael is a Professional Level 500-hr Kripalu Yoga Teacher. He received his 200-hr teaching certification from Yoga to the People in NYC and is a Registered Yoga Teacher under Yoga Alliance. Michael teaches private clients, group classes, teacher trainings and workshops across the DC Metro Area. He holds a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from Boston University and has studied dance, the Alexander Technique, and is certified in Reiki Level 1. He draws on his experience in this range of modalities, particularly the Alexander Technique, to broaden and deepen the yoga experience for his students.

Michael Peterson instructs the following:
  • East Meets West: Yoga for Anxiety
  • This workshop combines western psychology and the eastern perspective, bringing you the best of both worlds.

Anxiety is a normal human emotion that we all experience.

In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to understand and work with your own anxieties using movement, reflection, and teachings from both eastern and western perspectives.

Michael Peterson will offer exploration and teachings that draw from his background in Buddhism, Yoga, and meditation.

Katherine Ross, M.A., M.S.Ed. will offer teaching and healing practices from her training in Counseling Psychology.

This workshop is open to all experience (and anxiety) levels.
