Abby Dobbs
Abby attended her first yoga class at the age of 15, dragged along by her mother. Little did she know then, but yoga would change her life completely. After years of dabbling, Abby's true yoga journey began when she discovered the immense passion that was brought forth exploring Forrest Yoga during her college years. Abby completed her first 200-Hour teacher training with her mentor Ana Forrest - with no intention to teach. Yoga Teacher Training changed Abby's life course away from the pursuit of a PhD; she couldn't leave the connection to spirit and community that yoga awakened within her. Inspired deeply by the practice of yoga, Abby has continued chasing her passion through many additional yoga trainings, plus attending massage school and multiple bodywork trainings. Abby is deeply inspired by Forrest, Rocket, Ashtanga, Yin, & Prana Flow. Pulling from all of her trainings, in Abby's classes you'll find intelligent sequencing, flow mixed with long holds, lots of corework, and lots of individual attention and hands-on assists. Expect Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations), inversions, arm balances, and deep, focused opening in her classes. Inspired by the intention-setting of Forrest Yoga, each class has a meditation layered on top of the physical asana - an opportunity for students to hone their ability to feel deeply, learn to focus the mind, and strengthen their will power. Abby encourages her students to make deliberate and mindful choices in each moment - to listen & connect to their own inner wisdom through continuous, moment-to-moment self-inquiry. She believes that yoga is not only deeply personal practice, but also a community - and that we can help to heal ourselves and others through the practice of yoga. Off the mat, Abby is a bodyworker and energyworker - and mom to three fabulous cats, Kitty Boo, Billy, & Pashmak.
