LEARN-EXPLORE-PRACTICE

Pilates is a physical fitness system developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates.  It puts emphasis on alignment, breathing, developing a strong core, and improving coordination and balance.  It is a disciplined workout with particular focus on full inhalation and complete exhalation of the breath. All exercises are done with control, the muscles working to lift against gravity.  It is similar to yoga in that it stretches, strengthens, and aligns the body all at the same time, and in doing so it facilities an advanced yoga practice. It is thus a useful adjunct to a yoga practice.

Our classes strengthen and lengthen core muscles while opening joints and releasing tension. Making use of a stability ball, students learn how to modify the workout to a level appropriate for them, create and condition strong, elongated and flexible muscles that improve posture, strength and overall mobility. The deep abdominal and spinal muscles will be triggered, and the spine decompressed.

Individual attention is provided to make beginners feel at ease while not-so beginners get to perfect their form and further strengthen their core.

Recommended for all levels.
