Rest and Restore

Led by Audrey Roxas

Fri, January 15, 2021,  6:00-7:00 PM

With all that is going on right now, deep relaxation is crucial. Join us for an hour of guided conscious relaxation, a time for you to do less by supporting the body.

Don’t let setting up of props or not having all the yoga props keep you away from the practice, will share with you how to use items you already have at home - books, bath towels, your yoga mat are great substitutes for blocks, blankets, and a bolster.

Overcoming Anxiety

Led by Dhyana Delatour

Sun, January 17, 2021,  1:30-2:45 PM

This special and unique audiovisual workshop has been designed to help us understand anxiety and fear during these very challenging times.
The workshop will start by an audiovisual introduction of how anxiety manifests itself in our bodies and mind and the several ways by which it is exhibited—anger, crying, feelings of loss of control, depression and feeling stuck. The forms anxiety takes are delineated into three categories. For each category, empowering self-regulating tools specific to that category are taught to manage and alleviate difficult moments.

Yoga Nidra is a systematic method for achieving total muscular, mental and emotional relaxation via a guided meditation practice. Practicing Yoga Nidra regularly, over time, yields enormous physical and psychological benefits.

The Yoga Nidra taught in this workshop is the authentic practice derived from Swami Satyananda’s extensive study of the tantras and Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras. For the first time in this area Washington Yoga Center, a studio like no other, is offering Yoga Nidra as it is meant to be. Try it and find out for yourself the difference a genuine practice makes!

Yoga for Osteoporosis

Led by Dhyana Delatour

Sun, January 31, 2020,  1:30-2:455 PM

This workshop will focus on yoga for those with osteoporosis or osteopenia to strengthen normal and weakened bones.

Osteoporosis, the loss of bone density, is a natural part of the aging process, but when too much bone is lost the bones become weak and susceptible to fractures or breaks.

Osteoporosis can be treated through regular weight bearing exercise such as Yoga. “Yoga helps to stimulate bone strengthening for the whole body while being low-impact.” This workshop will teach very safe yoga poses that are beneficial for your bones.

Rest with Restorative Yoga

Led by Robin Glantz

Sun, February 14, 2021,  5:00-6:30 PM
Sun, March 7, 2021,  5:00-6:30 PM

Restorative yoga is a practice that is all about slowing down and opening your body through passive stretching. It focuses on the body’s process of releasing tension and relaxing through the use of a few select poses and props.
We will use 3 poses with props – a backbend, a twist and a supported savasana – along with our breath, to activate our Parasympathetic Nervous system (i.e. our Rest & Digest state) and move into that state of ‘inner letting go’.
